Additional information about Safety can be found in Chapter 12. A general list of safety precautions for sample collection and laboratory procedures includes:
- Never handle chemicals with bare hands. Wash hands thoroughly with soap after each testing procedure to remove toxins.
- Immediately clean up any broken glassware and/or spilled chemicals. Report in accordance with Chapter 9 or established plant reporting protocol.
- Wear protective safety glasses when handling chemicals.
- Monitor equipment and repair/replace as needed.
- Clearly label all chemical reagents and store out of direct sunlight.
- Keep laboratory tidy and clean.
