Heating and Ventilation

Main Water Treatment Plant Building

All process areas are heated with natural gas fired units with the exception of the Chlorine Room. The Chlorine Room and Highland Reservoir Vault are heated with an electric unit heates. All heating units are controlled by thermostat, which provides power to the heating element and, for the wall heaters, enables the fan to run. When the thermostat is satisfied, the fan is stopped and the electrical heating element is disabled. The thermostats may be turned to OFF when heating is not required at all. Two destratification fans with wall mounted speed controls are used to disperse the heat in the upper Clarifier Area to the lower portion of the room.

The Electrical Room and Office are equipped with ductless mini-split air conditioning units. The Chlorine Room is equipped with two new exhaust fans that discharge through the room to atmosphere. Equipment existing prior to the 2019-2020 upgrades is not covered in this section.
