The Glasgow WTP consist of three facilities: the Water Treatment Plant building, the Backwash Waste Pump Station, and the Chlorine Contact Basin, shown on Record Drawing C-3.
The water treatment processes utilized at the Glasgow WTP are illustrated in the process flow diagram, Record Drawing G-8, and the hydraulic profile, Record Drawing G-10. The basic water treatment and waste handling systems can be summarized as:
- Raw Water Intake and Pump Station
- Conventional Filtration (Contact Adsorption Clarification and Granular Media Filtration).
- Chlorine Primary Disinfection and Contact Basin (primary disinfection for viruses and Giardia, secondary disinfection for distribution system residual)
- Clearwell, High Lift Water Pumping and Filter Backwash Supply Pumping
- Backwash Waste Storage and Pumping
- Chemical Feed Systems
