Raw Water Intake & Pump Station

Description

The raw water intake and pump station which provides water for the City of Glasgow is owned and operated by the Montanan Aviation Research Company (MARCO). It is located on the Missouri River, approximately 14 miles south and east of Glasgow. The intake consists of an intake pipe which diverts water to the pump station wet well by gravity. The Intake Pump Station contains two 1,100 gpm pumps, one 645 gpm pump, and one 400 gpm pump. These pumps convey water approximately 6 miles to the Glasgow tee and Control Valve Vault where flow splits between Glasgow and MARCO. Water continues approximately 8 miles beyond the vault to the WTP. A flowmeter located upstream of the valve vault records flow split to the Glasgow WTP.

The raw water sample station at the WTP is used for evaluating raw water quality including turbidity and pH. Both instruments are connected to the PCS for monitoring and trending.
